Ever wonder how to glam up a food station to make an impression? Of course as foodie fashionistas, we’ve got a quick solution for you — pull inspiration from your favorite store/boutique, designer, or even movie. The idea behind our Breakfast at Tiffany’s station was to mimic a display you might find while perusing the shelves of this luxury store. The station needed to be fun, fashionable, high-end, and–as a nod to the classic movie, Breakfast at Tiffany’s–it needed to be adorned with the most delectable breakfast bites.
When putting together a chic station for gatherings {large or small}, even the smallest details need to be considered. Chances are guests, like the food station, will be dressed to impress. They won’t want to stand at a table, piling food on their plate thereby running the risk of ruining their Prada. Bite-sized savories and sweets provide the perfect solution to this dilemma. As you might know, we have plenty of experience with this, so we miniaturized just about everything for our station (note: champagne and strawberry bellinis were not miniaturized because, well, who wants a mini glass of champagne or a tiny bellini!?). Here’s how we channeled our inner Holly Golightly to create this station (which is perfect for your next bridal shower, baby shower, or even birthday party, by the way–we’re just saying!)…
We gave scrambled eggs a facelift by serving them in hollowed eggshells in a porcelain egg cup. But we didn’t stop there, we then topped the eggs with gold dust and a bacon chip. Eggs à la luxe, if you will.
Hashbrowns are great and all, but they don’t quite scream “pretty”, so we made potato pancakes instead and topped them with smoked salmon and caviar. Each one was garnished with chive for the perfect POC {pop of color}.
To add a little sweetness, we served mini blueberry pancake stacks and brioche french toast with fresh strawberries.
Of course, cappuccinos helped round out the table; but for the non-coffee drinkers {like our very own chef}, we had a fun play on the classic Bloody Mary cocktail {her favorite breakfast beverage, in case you were wondering}. We filled small pipettes with bloody mary and finished them with grilled shrimp. Not only does this create a beautiful presentation, but it makes for a great combination of flavors! Fabulous flowers were provided by Topiarius and the lovely duo at Carasco Photography helped capture the images so beautifully.
